Jewelry Care

The jewelry that I make has been intentionally blackened (also called oxidized), but this is not a permanent process. After time the oxidization will wear off and become brighter. I personally find this process to be a beautiful part of the jewelry’s life, but there are things you can do to help prevent it from happening quickly.

  • Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Don't use standard silver or metal polish, as these can strip away the oxidized finish.

  • Gently Clean: If the jewelry needs cleaning, use a soft, dry cloth (like a microfiber cloth) to gently wipe away dirt or fingerprints. For a deeper clean, you can use warm water with a mild soap, but avoid scrubbing the oxidized areas. Be sure to dry it thoroughly afterward.

  • Avoid Moisture and Chemicals: Water, lotions, perfumes, and cleaning agents can wear down the oxidized finish over time. Always remove the jewelry before swimming, showering, or applying skincare products.

  • Store Properly: Store the jewelry in a cool, dry place, preferably in an airtight bag or a jewelry box with anti-tarnish paper to help protect the oxidized finish from wearing off.
